The below Twitter post caught my eye, it is high resolution photography of the “Black Stone” in Mecca, at the Kaaba. From afar it looks like an entire black stone:

Then finally:

When I took a look at the Wikipedia page I also found:

Which is titled, “The fragmented Black Stone as it appeared in the 1850s, front and side illustrations.”
As it turns out, it is not one whole black stone. Now, I first learned about this I think from https://www.youtube.com/@DrRoyCasagranda/videos Dr. Roy Casagranda on one of his lectures, however, at present I cannot find the video to reference it.
However, one of the most sad stories relates to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abu_Tahir_al-Jannabi who was the cause of smashing it further.
Furthermore, there is some debate about pieces of the stone being in Turkey: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voiN3rYH4tU
This post wasn’t established to make an opinion on anything. Only that it does appear small fragments remain today and to share that the stone has its own rich and interesting history. If you are interested, research further!
