Project Overview

God willing, this initiative serves as a useful proof of concept. The endeavor focuses on providing a comprehensive{?} AI-assisted English translation of Tafsir al-Tabari, an esteemed Quranic exegesis. As of Sat, Jan 25, 2025, the entire translation has been posted on this site.

No Touch Policy

Throughout the Tafsir project, a strict "no touch" policy was maintained. Involvement was limited to formatting adjustments — such as font sizing, text alignment, and removal of broken or irrelevant elements. The AI-generated output was left unaltered, even when errors were apparent, to preserve the integrity of the proof-of-concept.

Due to the volume of text, a full review was not feasible. Instead, periodic checks were made to monitor progress and flag issues. When I do provide commentary, I clearly identify it as my own, or indicate the speaker when context warrants clarification.

For instance, I’m aware that some Surah or verse references were incorrectly generated—likely due to OCR errors, AI hallucinations, or both. These inaccuracies were retained intentionally to reflect the unedited nature of the process.
